Debate if the public was deceived in the 1975 referendum and misled into the EC

What the petition asks
Was the public deceived during the 1975 referendum and misled into the EC. They were never informed that British rights and sovereignty would be transferred via the 1972 EC act and they were led to believe they were only joining a single market not a political union.
I believe the public were misled by the Government during the 1975 referendum and their rights and sovereignty signed away without full public consent because the Government of the day hid those facts. I believe the Government must debate this issue and decide if the public were in fact deceived by the Government of the day.
