Make it illegal to post malicious and false information on social media
Rejected

What the petition asks
After receiving some threats of violence against myself after some people posted some false and Malicious rumours about me on social media I want to make ot the law to stop this from happening, this should be more than just a 'civil' case that the police can't deal with, make it law so they can.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
If a person sends threatening/abusive/offensive messages to another person via Facebook, Twitter, or any other social networking site, they could already be committing an offence. The most relevant offences are 'harassment' and 'malicious communications'. We're therefore not sure how you'd like the law to be changed.
