What the petition asks
Homework is very stressful on young students especially when preparing for their GCSE's. In Finland as a result of no homework and longer summer holidays, they are 6th in the world for maths whereas, the UK is in 23rd place, this is the same case for all subjects.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Decisions about whether homework is optional are decisions for teachers and schools to make.
If you would like the Department for Education to issue guidelines, or impose requirements on schools, you could start a petition asking for that.
