Stop KS1/KS2 SATS criteria discriminating against children with special needs

What the petition asks
Current KS1/KS2 SATS criteria state that a child who does not write in the approved way can only be assessed as ‘working towards’ or ‘working at expected’ standards; they cannot be 'working at greater depth’. This discriminates against children with special needs who are unable to write 'joined up'.
There are no exclusion criteria for children who are unable to write 'joined up', whether because of visual impairment, motor or coordination problems affecting the arms, dyslexia, or other special need.
