change the status of the Black Rat (Rattus rattus) from a non native to a native

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

black rats have been persecuted for thousands of years as well as being blamed for the spread of the Bubonic plague which was spread by Mongloian Gerbils not rats

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

A non-native species is a species that has been introduced into the country by human intervention (either deliberately or accidentally) since the end of the last ice age (approx ten thousand years ago).

You may wish to resubmit a petition asking the Government to reconsider how it classifies certain species as native or non-native.
