Petition · past parliament

All U.K. citizens should take part in any Scottish Independence Referendum.

What the petition asks

An independent Scotland would be a threat to the safety to the whole of the U.K. as it would threaten the network of military bases used to protect Britain’s northern flank, including Faslane, the operational base for the fleet of Vanguard submarines used to carry the Trident nuclear weapons system.
Moving the Trident fleet to Devonport which is the only option, would take decades, and add an extra £3.5 billion to the Trident renewal programme and the creation of an independent Scotland would cause major disruption to Britain’s existing military infrastructure.
