What the petition asks

Obesity is a major health problem in modern society and rivals the problems caused by smoking tobacco products, and should be treated like it by introducing plain packaging just like cigarettes.

Obesity causes many different and complex health implications including, but not limited to; cancer, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. By 2050, obesity is estimated to affect 60% of adult men and 50% of adult women in addition to 25% of children. The resulting NHS cost is projected to reach (by 2050) £9.7 billion and further costs to society are estimated to be £49.9 billion per year.
