What the petition asks
Members of Parliament are full time public sector employees. They cannot fulfil their duties effectively if they are also full time employees in other sectors, such as, for example, editor of a major newspaper, or Mayor of London.
Why it was rejected
There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
