George Osborne to resign his seat as MP for Tatton due to conflict of interest

George Osborne has been appointed editor of the Evening Standard. As the main purpose of the press in a free democracy is to hold government to account, a sitting MP serving as editor of a newspaper is a path to propaganda.

This would be a decision for Mr Osborne, not the UK Government or Parliament.
