Petition · past parliament

GEORGE OSBORNE should choose whether to be an MP or Edit the Evening Standard.

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

George Osborne has just accepted a job as editor of the Evening Standard but he’s already got a full-time job as an MP, representing tens of thousands of people who live in his constituency, Tatton in Dorset.
Tatton is around 135 miles and 2.3/4 hours from the Evening Standard office in Kensington.

How can he possibly run a constituency while at the same time having a full-time job at a newspaper.

There is also the conflict of interest of Editing a newspaper whilst being a member of parliament, there will always be suspicions of bias of reporting and promoting the government's, and his own interests. This really is not appropriate.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
