What the petition asks
19 baby check questions may help identify if a baby has Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) risk. Should be included in prenatal & postnatal information from midwifes & health visitor. You are given leaflet about enviromental factors. Check List only available from charity which supports after SIDS.
Studies show 19 question scored checklist may determine which babies are at risk of SIDS. It is based on many symptoms & signs that are not significant individually, but taken together may signify a risk of death. The Baby Check as a means of quantifying acute illness, can be used by parents to help them decide whether to seek medical attention. It can be used by health professionals as a tool to discriminate between those babies who should be assessed in hospital and those who need not be.
