What the petition asks
Thousands of single parent families are now In arrears and at risk of losing their homes. Families individual circumstances need to be assessed before any cap is applied.Once the shortfall of rent is paid there is not enough money left to meet basic needs.local councils have limited funds to help.
The government need to re think the benifit cap and how it is going to work. They also need to look at the long term damage it will cause. There needs to be extra funding for charities and local councils to support and house the families affected by the housing benifit cap.
Why it was rejected
There was already a petition about this issue. Duplicates are rejected so signatures collect in one place.
