What the petition asks
More than 1.3 billion people live in extreme poverty on less than £1.01 a day and according to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty. This is something that is hugely unacceptable and can be easily changed by leading nations' involvement, including the UK.
- 800 million people do not have enough to eat and 21,000 people die each day due to starvation.
- Almost 900 million people in the world do not have access to safe drinking water.
- Out of 2 billion children in the world, 1 billion are living in poverty.
If this becomes government policy, the UK can tackle the major issues within global poverty, and persuade other nations to contribute. It is possible to end world poverty but this depends on the individuals with the power and wealth to do so.
