Increase Carer's Allowance from age 60 to the same rate as the State Pension

What the petition asks
Full time carers for disabled adults and sick parents cannot claim tax credits or job seekers allowance and currently receive £62.20 per week. Carers save the government money in Social Care and residential home fees. They should receive free prescriptions, bus passes, winter fuel allowance etc.
Many people give up work to care for sick, elderly parents or cannot work as they are full time carers for disabled adult children. If they are married or in a permanent relationship their partners' pension or salary is taken into account and they cannot claim anything extra in their own right. They save central and local government vast sums with would otherwise be paid out in social care and residential home fees. They are invariably the sole carer working 24 hours a day 7 days a week
