Stop the car park being build on Standish Recreational Ground

Rejected 13 signatures

What the petition asks

Standish Voice have proposed that a car park be build on Standish Rec. We think there is precious little green space left in Standish and we want to keep the rec as a field that children and adults alike can enjoy.
We have a "Friends of Standish Recreational Ground" group on facebook with over 100 members after less than 24hrs.
Standish Rec was bequeathed to the people of Standish in 1923 by Beckett Clayhills. There is a historic covenant which says it must be used to provide a place for children to play

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Local planning decisions are the responsibility of your local council.

The Wigan council has its own petitions process. You can find out more about how to petition the council here:

http://democracy.wigan.gov.uk/mgePetitionListDisplay.aspx?bcr=1

You could raise your issue with a local councillor, who represents you. You can use this page to find out who your local councillors are, and how to contact them:

Once an application is made for the development to take place, all local residents have the right to request that a planning application be ‘called in’ by the Department for Communities and Local Government. This means that it will assess the planning application against certain criteria and decide if a full inquiry is needed. For more information, including the criteria and how to request the call in of a planning application, see:
