Petition · past parliament

Work for full protection to EU workers who qualify for UK permanent residence.

Rejected 17 signatures

What the petition asks

Whilst enacting 'Brexit', 'Permanent residence' status of foreign born workers from EU member states can stay intact if the political will is there, with no need to sacrifice basic rights on the altar of populism.
If the government does demolish rights for people who have, or who already qualify for but don't yet have, such rights, it is a political choice to enact 'brexit' as damagingly as possible.
Additionally, reciprocally, the government should work towards protecting such rights for UK citizens across Europe.
Do not treat either cohort as negotiating chips, but reassure them that full protection is a requirement of Exiting.
