Lead by example and sacrifice MP travel expenses before disability benefits
Rejected
19 signatures
What the petition asks
The UK government is continuing to pursue it's austerity policy against disabled benefit claimants with the latest cuts targeting people's ability to travel independently. We call on the government to review its own travel expenses budget first and cut this before making any further benefit cuts.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.
