Change the admissions policy on schools!

Rejected 18 signatures

What the petition asks

children should automatically secure a place in juniors if following on from infant schools! It's ridiculous that taking a child out of school for a family holiday is seen as disruptive to their education but apperntly removing a child from there friends and school they know isn't seen as an issue.
my daughter who has been at a school 3 years was declined a place in the juniors due to not having a sibling and we had moved. I think this is not only emotionally disruptive for a young child but it can also have an affect on there education if they are not happy! If they attend the infants they should automatically secure a place in the juniors or at least have first refusal! our children's lives our dictated as a parent it should be my choice where my child attends school and is brought up

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. School admissions policy is usually the responsibility of either the school or local authority, depending upon the type of school.

You can find out more about school admissions, including how to appeal a decision on the UK Government website: https://www.gov.uk/schools-admissions/admissions-criteria
