Make TV debates a statutory obligation during UK general election campaigns.

What the petition asks
In a 21st century parliamentary democracy, all voters should have the right to see the leaders of the main political parties debate their views and policies. TV debates are essential for democracy and no leader or party should be able to stop them. To do so shows disrespect for the electorate.
The US, Canada, Germany, Australia, France, Kenya, Russia and Iran are among the many other countries have televised election debates. The UK should trust and respect it's electorate in the same way that other modern democracies do by making TV election debates a statutory obligation during general election campaigns.
