Live TV debates for General Election between Prime Minister and Opposition

Rejected 13 signatures

What the petition asks

Theresa May after calling an eleciton (a week ago she said she wouldnt do) is refusing to debate.
Issues of with policy unclarity: Climate change. Economic Industrial strategy. Brexitnegogiations.
Millions of undecided voters need to here her positions.
Debate there must be!
Theresa May has uturned on far too many positions & has many possibly questionable policies.
She was originally against brexit, now she's hardliner.
Her government made a manifesto pledge against raising taxes on self employed, and only stopped when they were opposed.
Fiscal conservatism is gone, with the government having borrowed twice as much already as the last. If people are going to decide on the next 5 years in 1 month.
Thus, there must be TV debates!

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

A decision about whether to host a debate, and who to invite, would be the responsibility of the broadcasters, not the UK Government or Parliament.
