What the petition asks
As our Prime Minister has decided that there should be a general election. It is only fair - in a representative democracy - that she face scrutiny from her opponents, and electorate to prove to her voters that she can handle herself under pressure as a leader, and a negotiator.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
This would be a decision for Theresa May to make as leader of the Conservative party, not as the Prime Minister. We can only accept petitions about the Prime Minister’s actions as part of the Government, not as the leader of a political party.
