Establish an independent department to ensure truthful politics

What the petition asks
In a year where the Oxford English Dictionary names its Word of the Year as 'post-truth', then something has gone wrong in the politics & campaining world. This is a petition asking for the establishing of an independent department that will ensure truthful politics.
We had the infamous claim that if we leave the EU, instead of sending £350 million a week to the EU; we can send it to the NHS; and then after the result declaring that we didn't actually send the EU that much money, & also it wouldn't be going directly to the NHS. This new department should consist of teams from Ofcom, Advertising Agency, CPS, ONS and electoral lawyers (etc) to ensure that no politician can mislead the public with unsubstantiated claims and that UK politics are truthful.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Petitions need to call on the UK Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you start a new petition asking Government or Parliament to establish an independent body to fact-check and report on the things said by people campaigning for election, if that's what you want to happen.
