What the petition asks
Without the Pupillary Distance (PD) it is impossible to create prescription glasses, get the distance wrong and depending on how inaccurate it is, can cause the following symptoms: blurry vision, double vision images, headaches, nausea, and fatigue.
- 69% of the UK population wear prescription glasses
- Online retailers can be 40% cheaper than high street opticians
- It is unfair that people on lower incomes are forced to buy cheap glasses when they could afford fashionable frames and lens if they could buy from online retailers.
- Opticians don't provide PD today pointing to Statutory Instrument (1984 No. 1778). This was last reviewed in ’84 the internet was just for email then!! So this badly needs an update.
