What the petition asks
The government has been encouraging sport to combat obesity for years but if children do not enjoy the sports which they are taught then they may decide that they do not enjoy sport at all and refrain from exercising in the future.
Currently the law dictates that children must be taught athletics, dance, gymnastics, swimming and games but there is no specific rules about which 'games' must be played.
If children are given a more extensive range of sports, such as water polo, they may find a passion for sport that they would never have discovered otherwise.
