Ask the US troops invited from 1942 to leave their UK bases.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Magna Carta guarantees the removal of foreign forces following the restoration of peace. On 19 May 1941 American forces entered the UK to fight Nazi Germany. On 30 April 1945 Adolf Hitler killed himself. On 8 November 2016 American forces still occupied 10 bases.
Magna Carta Clause (51) As soon as peace is restored, we will remove from the kingdom all the foreign knights, bowmen, their attendants, and the mercenaries that have come to it, to its harm, with horses and arms. http://www.caab.org.uk/the-american-bases/where-are-the-bases https://www.bl.uk/magna-carta/articles/magna-carta-english-translation

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure whether you'd like the bases to be closed and the troops allowed to remain in the UK or whether you'd like US troops to leave the UK.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could start a new petition asking for the US bases to be closed and for serving US military personnel to be asked to leave the UK, if that's what you'd like to happen.
