A legal requirement that you have to stop and report any car accident with a Cat

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

Below are the requirements by law when hitting an animal. Why are cats not included in this?

We suggest adding cats to this list.

"Report a car accident with an animal. You must stop and report the accident to the police if you hit any:

dogs
horses
cattle, eg cows
pigs
goats...(etc)"
Finding your beloved pet abandoned and dead because someone has hit it and "couldn't be bothered to tell you" is frankly, wrong.

The majority of cats are microchipped, owners would much rather know someone has hit a cat for several reasons:

1.It saves the owner's or passerby's emotional cost of finding it with no prior knowledge; thinking "no one cares".

2. It potentially will save cat's lives when they are hit and injured and left to die by non-stopping cars.

3. It's the right thing to do.
