Review insurers & help young people to get cheaper, affordable, car insurance.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

It is very difficult & often unaffordable for young people to drive. The ability to drive is important for work & therefore has additional effects on economy.
Insurers do not make it easy for young people to start driving by making the premiums so high. Apprentice's cannot afford to pay insurance.
Example from:
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/car-insurance/young-drivers

"The cost of car insurance for under-25s is eye-wateringly high and expected to continue to rise.
The average cost for a 17-22 year-old is already over £1,400/yr"

Apprenticeships for those in low income families who lose child tax credits when a child starts an apprenticeship at 16 & whose pay is £3.30 per hour, makes such insurance unaffordable. How then can travel to apprenticeship happen?

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about the cost of car insurance for young people, but we're not sure what action you'd like to see.
