Promote a global emergency services number 505(SOS) keeping people safe globally

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

Watching my husband build my son’s playmobile fire engine he was provided with 12 emergency services sticker numbers. This is ridiculous, we have globally recognised symbols for rescue (SOS, V, things in 3s) we should share one global emergency number! 505 looks like SOS so I propose this
I’ve been trained in sea survivor, basic first aid etc and how to reach help at home is something know how to do. Travelling abroad or others travelling to the U.K. accessing emergency services is not so simple. This seems like a global failing, 505 would be so easy to train alongside other safety messages

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure what you mean by "promote a global emergency services number".

You could start a new petition asking the UK Government and Parliament to change the emergency number in the UK to 505, and then work with other countries to encourage them to do the same, if that's what you want to happen.
