Ban overseas investment in UK property

What the petition asks

The UK / London has been experiencing large scale foreign investment in the UK residential housing market. Foreign investment is endemic causing overpriced properties to be built, sold or left empty etc.
Research carried out by the BBC into investors from the Russian Federation, China, Hong Kong, Africa etc. shows buying property in the UK has reached epidemic proportions. Housing bought by non-UK residents could be used as a bank or to hide money (laundering). Wholesale, buying off plan of entire blocks of flats or buildings is causing the UK housing market to spiral out of control. The UK Government should adopt the New Zealand policy of banning non NZ residents from buying propriety.
