Scrap VAT on Digital Books

Closed 35 signatures

What the petition asks

Currently, Print books are exempt from VAT, whereas eBooks are subject to tax.
Since the Government launched an action plan to inspire thousands more pupils to read in 2015, and that digital books are now the preferred medium for many, it makes no sense to tax youngsters whilst trying to increase readership.

If the Government are serious about tackling reading standards, scrapping the VAT on eBooks is surely one way to make a positive impact.
