What the petition asks
About 33,000 British Gibraltarian citizens living in European British Gibraltar do not have the right to vote in UK General Elections. They therefore lack representation in Parliament. Although British Gibraltarian Citizens voted in EU referendum, they are not eligible to vote in UK Gen. Elections.
We believe that all British Gibraltarian citizens deserve genuine representation in Parliament. British Gibraltarian citizens must be able to vote for an MP to represent their interests in the House of Commons. Having their own dedicated MPs would more efficiently address their concerns which are often different to UK residents’. This petition proposes to assist British Gibraltarians express their views in Brexit negotiations and enable parliament to explicitly know their demands and concerns.
