Statutory Bereavement Pay | Paid leave when a family member dies.

Rejected 20 signatures

What the petition asks

When you are having to deal with someone in your family who has died it should be made a legal requirement for employers to offer paid leave so you can send off your loved one, so you can mourn & resolve issues of the deceased estate or support family members.
You should be given up-to a certain amount of weeks to deal with your loss. You should be given a set amount of money per week.
The employer should pay it similar to the statutory sick pay scheme.
Varying rates. A bonus in pay and time off should be offered for certain qualifying individuals (widowed parents with children, or someone with existing care responsibilities). A bonus if you're the sole earner in the house. Grieving people can be very vulnerable, give them the option!
