What the petition asks
People who make false accusations of rape and assault damage innocent people's lives, as well as destroy genuine sexual assault survivors. People who destroy people's lives through lying should be held accountable just like any other crime.
My brother was arrested and held on remand this year for rape for over 4 months. He has lost his home, his friends and his freedom. All for the girl to come out and say it was lies and the cps finally dropped the case. All that happened to her was a slap on the wrist. My brother had lost everything and the family is still struggling today. He got no compensation Or justice. People who are genuinely proven to be faulsey accused of rape should be entitled to justice.
Why it was rejected
It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We're not sure exactly what you would like the UK Government or Parliament to do.
Making a false allegation of a crime may already in some circumstances lead to a jail sentence - for example, if someone is found guilty of perverting the course of justice. In other cases, people who are accused of making false accusations may be prosecuted for wasting police time.
It is not therefore clear to us how you would like the law to be changed.
