What the petition asks
At the moment for a single adult claimant of Universal Credit the law states we can live on £317.82 but can take 40% (£127) of this to pay off likes of budget loans or rent arrears etc leaving someone with very little to live on after bills & food
£317.82 is for a single person over 25yr old as stated here: https://www.gov.uk/universal-credit/what-youll-get
Now for someone only on Universal Credit that £127 a month reduction can cause serious hardship. Please help us to get this amount reduced to a more manageable amount such as £31 (10%) or £63 (20) at the most.
Universal Credit as many of you are aware is the new blanket benefit for anyone whether unemployed part time worker or disabled.
