BMI should be banned for babies children and young adults

Rejected 19 signatures

What the petition asks

Parents around the uk are being told their children are over weight according to BMI this needs to stop
I have just received a letter from the nhs, according to BMI my 4 year old daughter is overweight which is absurd. She loves her vegetables and eats extremely healthy she is no way over weight, if she was any skinnier you would see her ribs.
I feel this is one of the main reasons why we have eating disorders BMI does not take in to consideration bone density and muscle

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about the use of BMI as a measurement for young people, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do. For example, you could ask for the NHS in England not to use BMI measurements for people below a certain age.
