Debate effect of pumping out brine at Fleetwood on marine life and livelihoods

Closed 2,942 signatures

What the petition asks

Consent has been given for brine to be pumped out at Fleetwood. Pumping will continue for years, whilst they build underground gas storage caverns. Local experts have concerns about the possible effects on our delicate marine ecology and on local livelihoods.
There are concerns relating to conservation; the food chain; fishing industry; tourism; polluted water from Fleetwood dock; and the accuracy of dispersal modelling.

We call for a parliamentary debate on the brine discharge and on whether the benefits of this project for the UK outweigh the possible negative impacts on the local area.
