charge people who need an ambulance or hospital care due to excessive drinking.

What the petition asks

Hospital admissions – narrow measure
There were 339 thousand estimated admissions related to alcohol consumption in 2015/16. This is 3% higher than 2014/15 and 22% higher than 2005/06.
This represents 2.1% of all hospital admissions which has changed little in the last 10 years.
NHS resorses would be better spent on people who really need it rather than self inflicted drunkenness. How may people have died as a result of an ambulance or hospital bed not being available because of irresponsible people excessively drinking.
If people can afford to get drunk they can afford the cost of recovering from it.
