Do not alter the Composition of the House of Lords for mere Party Political ends

Rejected 11 signatures

What the petition asks

The Government is threatening to pack the House of Lords with its supporters in order to assure the passage of its controversial Brexit Bill.
This would undermine the UK's delicate unwritten Constitution and give yet more power to the Executive at the expense of Parliament.
It must be stopped.
The Government already has a mechanism to over-rule the House of Lords, if need be; the Parliament Acts. Their threat to disrupt the composition of the upper house is therefore an unnecessary power-grab and is likely to result, yet again, in legal challenge.

They must avoid this course of action and the embarrassment to the Crown that it would cause, by involving Her Majesty in party politics.

Why it was rejected

It was about honours or appointments, which petitions cannot cover.

We can't accept petitions about appointments, which includes appointments to the House of Lords.
