Reduce & cap MPs salary to twice the national average wage.

What the petition asks
MPs wages are currently way out of line with the rest of the populous. Basing their wages on the national average would help them understand the average constituent better and encourage them to increase the national average wage.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.
At the moment, the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for deciding on MPs' pay and pensions. This is the responsibility of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA), which is independent of both Parliament and Government.
You could start a new petition calling on Parliament to change the law, to take this responsibility away from IPSA and to set up a different system.
