Add warning labels to harmful essential oil ingredients

Rejected 18 signatures

What the petition asks

Certain ingredients in essential oils and scented candles can be toxic or fatal to small animals and cats. Without information made known to the seller, it could result in high vet bills or loss of life

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise.

The EU, not Government or Parliament, decides what warning labels have to go on packaging. Most of the labels on packaging, such as traffic light nutrition labels and litter campaign labels, are there due to voluntary schemes.

You could start a new petition asking the UK Government to encourage the industry to add labels to essential oils and scented candles to raise awareness of the danger to pets.
