Give special protection to Salford’s Grade 1 Agricultural Greenbelt land
Rejected

What the petition asks
The electoral wards of Irlam & Cadishead in Salford contain the majority of the only Grade 1 agricultural land in Greater Manchester.
Only 2.7% of agricultural land in England is Grade 1.
This petition is to ensure that none of this land is redesignated and handed over to developers.

The first draft of the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework and Draft Salford Local Plan earmarked 735 acres of Grade 1 agricultural Greenbelt land to be redesignated for development.
Fears still exist that the next drafts will still look to redesignate these same parcels of land.
We must do all we can to protect this very rare and special land, there is only 2.7% Grade 1 agricultural land in the whole of the country and this is the only land of its kind in Greater Manchester.

The next version of the Local Plan will be published for consultation in June 2018.
After that opportunity for comments, the plan will be sent to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government for examination in early 2019.
At that stage, if you are still opposed to the proposals in the plan, you could start a petition asking the Secretary of State to take action.
