Cancel future cuts to the public health grant and return funding cut since 2015

Closed 51 signatures

What the petition asks

The public health grant funds prevention work through local authority public health departments to improve the health and well being of individuals and communities
Local authorities face a £331 million reduction to their public health budget, on top of a £200 million reduction announced in 2015.
*Every £1 spent on public health in UK saves an average of £14.
* cuts to the public health grant hinder preventative and health promotion work.
* Preventative programmes are essential to helping in levels of obesity and dental decay in children, increasing levels of exercise and improving mental health and well being
Past success in for example, reducing levels of smoking and teenage pregnancy show that it can work if resourced properly
