Make bereavement benefits accessible to cohabiting parents

What the petition asks
Bereavement payments are designed to aid families who may have lost a significant portion of their income due to the death of a loved one. However, these payments are only accessible to the spouse or civil partner of the deceased. Children of unmarried couples are eligible for nothing.
On the 8th of December my partner took his own life. Myself and my daughter have been left in a difficult situation and are not eligible for any bereavement support simply because we weren't married.
