What the petition asks
We call for 'minimum' sentences and 'open ended' sentencing guidelines to be introduced for child sexual abuse and the offence's related to online child 'grooming'.
We also call for the introduction of laws that keep serial child abusers who re-offend in prison 'indefinitely'.
We also call for the introduction of laws that keep serial child abusers who re-offend in prison 'indefinitely'.
We call on the Ministry of Justice to review and reform sentencing laws and guidelines for crimes of child sexual abuse and in particular online grooming of children, and the introduction of 'minimum' sentences.
Sentencing needs to be appropriate and in accordance with the severity of the crime of sexual grooming of children. Current sentencing guidelines must be reviewed in order to seek justice and to protect the rights of the innocent.
