Petition to Establish Evidence-Based Treatment for Eating Disorders in U.K.

Closed 1,272 signatures

What the petition asks

Eating Disorders have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness, yet in practice, therapy protocols do not reflect evidence-based care as recommended by the National Institute for Care Excellence (NICE).
We seek a national policy for treatment of eating disorders:

Mandatory protocols in compliance with evidence-based practices (NICE 1.3);
Expeditious timeframes for assessment/referral/treatment;

Mandate allowing families to participate in planning for treatment, therapy, and discharge;

Minimum discharge standard of 100% weight-for-height based on personal growth charts;

Stipulation for staff training on ED behaviors and co-morbids;

Training for school personnel in basic assessment criteria (NICE 1.2)
