What the petition asks

Southern Cameroon was a Trust territory of the UK with its mandate ending in 1961 where a Plebiscite was organised by the UN giving the people the option of either joining Cameroon/Nigeria to gain its independence.The present crisis in the region is a direct consequence of the failure that process
Britain has a key role to play in the present crisis in Southern Cameroons.On 1st October 2017 Southern Cameroons reasserted its independence from Cameroun. It now has an interim government and now recognizes itself as the Republic of Ambazonia.

The problem in Southern Cameroons is a consequence of failed decolonisation.UN resolution 1514 reaffirms the right of every people to self determination.Denial of that right or subjugation of a people to an alien power is a frequent cause of conflict.
