Change the job application process for Autistic people - to have a fairer chance
Rejected
15 signatures
What the petition asks
Autism means processing information can be very difficult. In some job assessments, e.g. numerical or verbal reasoning tests, Qs & As can be perceived completely differently by those with Autism. Even if they are great candidates for the job, they are disregarded based on the results of these tests.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. It is up to individual employers to decide what form of job assessment they use when hiring staff. Employers are required under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for people with disabilities.
You could start a new petition asking for the law to be changed to provide specific protections for people with autism when they apply for jobs.
