Retain HMS Ships Albion, Bulwark fully funded via the foreign aid budget.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

UK defense cuts have resulted in the decision being made to remove these ships and crews from active service. This will result in the UK being unable to respond to disasters such as recent events in the Caribbean and the Far East. They should be fully crewed and retained via our foreign aid budget.
These ships have the capability of transporting and helping rebuild Infrastructure around the world in conjunction with UK business. They should fly our flag and project UK businesses and innovations. This would also give valuable experience for our troops in wining hearts and minds. Assisting other Nations and would give a positive image of our Military. This would also show the tax paying public that our foreign aid budget is being used in a more positive way. It could also promote UK trade.

Why it was rejected

It was not clear what the petition asked the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure whether you want DFID to provide the money for Albion and Bulwark to stay under the control of the Ministry of Defence or whether you want Albion and Bulwark to be transferred to DFID and be used by them.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly which of those two you would like the UK Government to do.
