What the petition asks
Manchester has the second highest child poverty rate in the UK, we are already seeing the impact of universal credit and the loss of youth centers. We are close to breaking point in relation to the lack and loss of community-based family and youth services.
We need to secure the increased provisions to support families and parents returning to work, to allow children the opportunity to socialise without putting more financial pressure on parents to pay expense nursery fees that are ever increasing. The level of support offered and provided in these nurseries and centers is massive, the centers also act as support for parents and as a signposting into other services and agencies that may be critical to some families.
