What the petition asks
I have a child with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) and alcohol-related neurodevelopmental disorder (ARND). Teachers need training to educate the thousands of children with this condition. So many of them are being failed because of the lack of awareness within our schools and society.
FASD is a condition a lot of children are born with due to the consumption of alcohol in pregnancy. The condition can range from very mild to very extreme. Children with this condition find their everyday lives very hard ranging from: forming friendships; understanding emotions; having delayed speech; poor short term memory; anger issues; and finding it very hard in education. There are a few organisations out there that offer a lot of advice like NOFAS-UK which help educate people school and other professionals.
